AC September '08: Video LOVE

Synopsis:We started out the season by watching some of our brilliance from last year. We watched "Adventure Club Does Opera Right," from the Adventure Club of February of 2008, and "Yours Truly 2095" from the Adventure Club of April 2008. Then we hiked up Devil's Head (well, some of us did), and then we exchanged CD jackets from our CD exchange in June. It was a fine day. I'd say half of us picked our CDs correctly. What a fine day and a great start to an Adventure Club season! Huzzah!

AC October '08: Contemporary Faces

Synopsis:We had a fine tour of the Museum of Contemporary Art in LoDo, complete with excellent rooftop garden and artistic pictures of our own. Some of it was pretty weird (the art) and some was pretty cool (the art) and some was pretty whacked (the ACers), but it was all fun. Then we went home and did some face painting. Relaxing, creative and fun!

AC November '08: Take Pasta to the Movies

Synopsis:Who knew you could actually MAKE pasta? Aaron showed us how it's done, and the adventurous amongst us (pretty much everyone except the sickies) laid hands on the stringy but ultimately delicious stuff! Wow! Then Aaron shared some history of the movies (unrelated to pasta, but they're both passions of that fine fellow) and we watched a classic, "the General" with Buster Keaton. Oh, and Cedric was cute.

AC December '08: Sweet and Sparkly

Synopsis:It was time. We have wanted to do it for YEARS. Finally, we did it! We planned a Saturday AC to take the Hammonds Candy Factory tour. Huzzah! Oh ...you mean we chose the ONLY DAY EACH YEAR where they do a gigantic event and the place is so packed you can hardly get in, much less take a full tour or actually look around the gift shop? Oh well! We were not daunted. Nay! We are Adventure Club! We toured, some, shopped, some, and then headed down to Jochele's for ornament making, which was delightfully fun. What a sweet and sparkly kind of day! Yay us!

AC January '09: It's Kneat to Knit

Synopsis:Pam was not sure she could do it. Would people be interested? Well, they were and it was a hit! We learned how to knit and pearl and all that good stuff. Pam will take our efforts and make it into a grand work; stay tuned for that! After a wonderful lunch and all kinds of fun with the knitting, we headed through the cold to the library to take in some of the art. Something colorful on a dreary day. Thanks Pam!

AC February '09: 8th Adventure Club Interpretive Christmas

Synopsis:Our 8th retelling of Christmas, AC-style. It so rocked! We went to a cabin in Estes Park, toured the Stanley Hotel and more. We had too little food, DEFINITELY, but we managed to survive. And then, there were PREZZIES! Check out the AC website for the matrix, if you want to see what was made and all that yummy stuff. I can't wait till next year!

AC March '09: Ah! Loveland!

Synopsis:We trekked up to Loveland, home of the Valentine's Remailing Program and one of the largest public art collections in the country. We learned about both. We saw some of the poems that have been used for the valentines over the years, at the museum, and lots of outdoor art. It was a perfect day, with lots of sun and fresh air (though John could have used less fresh air, poor thing), and we even ate at Shawn's childhood mystery, the Widow McCoy's. Most folks had no idea Loveland was so big, much less that it had so much going on. And, in the car, a brilliant idea was hatched for next year ...we're fertile, that way! :)

AC April '09: Truly Tarot

Synopsis:Well, we were SUPPOSED to go to Elitch's, but the weather had been bad, so Elitch's closed. Blah! Never fear, we decided to get together and see what happened. Well, in that weird and wondrous dynamic that is AC, we ended up spending the whole day eating (which we do well), talking (ditto on that) and doing tarot readings with the Jeweled Dragons of the Amalfi Coast deck that was made for the last ACXMAS. What a great day! It was relaxing and fun; time with friends totally rocks. The reading depicted below shows us the FUTURE OF ADVENTURE CLUB. It was a very good reading! Huzzah!

AC May '09: Gingerbread Goodness

Synopsis:Apparently Greg's parents are super gingerbread house makers, having TONS of fun candies and colors to work with ...so the Grinka had us down for some gingerbread house making. It was sugar overload (even for Shawn!) but we had a great, sticky, chatty, entertaining, focused (we worked hard to make sure those walls didn't come crumbling down!) time. Thanks Grinka. What a great day!

AC June '09: Washing Ways

Synopsis:Our End of the Adventure Club Season Adventure Club was a smash! We visited the wonderful Maxwell Washing Machine Museum in Eaton, Colorado after doing our album viewing and CD exchange at the library in Greeley. We had themes and were charged with making them for each other (the CDs, not the washing machines) and it was splendid. The album this year includes a cover made from our knitting back in January! How cool is that? We all contributed to the cover, the perfect example of the AC spirit! Huzzah! All praise AC! Whoo hoo! After we had seen the MEGA MACHINES at the museum, we had dinner and did some Russian Volleyball in City Park. Thanks for another great year everyone! It was a great way to end a faboo season. We will see you for the 09-10 season in September! And we will all have clean underwear (except those who go commando). Oh, and if anyone has a passion for washing machines, let the guy know! He's looking for an inheritor! Oh, and Cressa learned how to play Russian Volleyball. We have a new addict. Life is good.
